I've heard that it will work, but have not yet tried it. You go first !! LOL -
The other .32 ammo thread got me thinking but I didn't want to hijack so here goes .
I'm not advocating this or judging anyone . Just asking , has anyone tried .32 acp in a revolver chambered for 32 SWL ? If yes , any trouble ? Swelled cases , primer flattening or punctures ? Any issues at all ?
I've never tried it but am curious .
Thanks .

THIS would depend on what you call " problems." There are differences in headspace and considerable differences in the correct bullet diameter. I've seen 32ACP/7.65MM ammunition give groups of around 30' in diameter at 50 meters when shot from 32MAG sixguns. If those meet your personal criteria have at it.
I'm not condoning or recommending , just asking about your experiences . Thanks for the range report from 50 meters .

Never felt the need, I have sufficient hand guns correctly chambered to use my stock of whatever, with out trying to reinvent the wheel.
Mixed metaphors; anyone?
Early and or very old inexpensive Revolvers...the .32 ACP might be a little much for them to handle.
You can usually chamber and fire .38 ACP in any .38 Long Colt or .38 Special Revolver, but similarly, it is usually rated to I think around 26,000 PSI, verses upper teens for .38 Special.
You can also chamber and fire .38 Super in a .38 Long Colt or .38 Special Revolver, but it is rated around 35,000 PSI, so, that would likely strain things some, or maybe do some harm I'd expect if in an early or inexpensive Model.
I would not do it! Unless it was some real emergency and I had nothing else for options!
Either Ivor Johnson or H&R stated in factory literature around WW2 that it could be fired in its revolvers chamber in 32 S&W and many of those were top break designs. I am guessing the undersized bullet somewhat drops the pressure of the hotter loaded 32 acp round. When I traded for my pocket positive Colt, the previous owner handed me 2 boxes of ammo for it of which some was fired. It was 32 acp. I told him that it was incorrect and he stated he could not really hit anything with the pocket positive Colt and was happy to trade for an official police 38.
I've fired a few cylinders full through an S&W Model 30. There's enough rim for them to index and they fired OK. Not much for accuracy, but in an emergency and at close range, it'll work. Wouldn't do it for recreation.
Thanks to those that provided their experiences . They support my assumptions regarding poor accuracy . I didn't read any extraction problems mentioned . That was my other concern .
I have plenty of SW & SWL ammo but in a pinch it's good to know there is an alternative should an emergency arrise .
