Range Report New Colt 38 Super

Before I show the target I have of disclaimers...

One, I'm not as good as I once was..LOL...
Two, 32 degrees with a 5 MPH wind is colder than I remember it from last year....
Three, Sights appear smaller now days......
Four, Don't drink two cups of coffee before I shoot......

Okay, 15 Yards off hand, believe or not first 50 rounds through the Colt Custom 1911, polished bright stainless...
The upside is I out shot the Police Swat Team practicing today...Since I drive a lot in their patrolling area I thought it was best if I left .....

    bmcgilvray and pistola like this.

    Nice shooting!

You could use the Colt for a Shaving Mirror too if you bring it Camping ot Hunting! ( Just joshin' a little...but you could! )

Really good looking Colt - I like to old style clean and simple Sights it has...very nice outfit.

I have never fired a .38 Super - with this one, being on the Government model Frame, is the weight the same as a regular government model? And, is the recoil noticably less than .45 ACP? Or, about the same?

I was able to signal the Air Force guys flying over in the "Warthogs Aircraft" using the mirror capabilities of the pistol..LOL..

To be honest this was the first time in about 40 years since I fired a 38 Super and I forgot how it felt.

All the hoopla about the power this fast moving bullet would generate...Well it was extremely comfortable shooting +P rated ammo. The Brass ejected 3 feet to my right in a 2 foot circle, control was very manageable. Sort of makes you want to go buy more ammo and do it again. But before I shoot up all my Hollow Points and will have to find some FMJ, which are currently tied to the Gold Futures Market..

I think some folks who are not 45 ACP fans and have little use for the 9mm would really like this 38 Super....Of course I love my Colt 1911, model 01918 as well.

I'm torn though...I have this deep desire to spend some $ for Jim at Nutmeg to prepare some Ivory....Maybe...

I dunno...those Cocobolo stocks seem very very nice on that Pistol to me.

Get the Ivories for your 'Blue' .38 Super - best of both Worlds then!

I hope the low right shot was the first and not fatigue on the last.

By the was the +P was added to the ammo casing so that there would be no confusing the cartridge with 38ACP. The charge was not changed thus this is the same ammo made for almost 100y.
