    .22 Winchester Rim Fire

I just bought a .22RF Magnum cylinder for my .22 Peacemaker and went out looking for some ammo for it. Look what I found! I have never seen this ammo live, and now I have a whole brick! Cost me $91 & change though.

I think I can shoot this stuff in the Mag cylinder, should'nt be any different than shooting .22LR in the gun.

why would you spend so much money to get long rifle performance in a modern gun chambered in modern and more efficient rounds?

I guess it's the cool factor, anybody can shoot .22LR or .22 Mag. Just like to be a little different!

I don't think I would buy a 2nd Gen. SAA in .357 Magnum, but .45 Colt would work. I like old stuff!

well, you certainly pushed the different strokes key for me.

i happen to have a second generation .357 saa, so it just boils down to whatever floats our boat.
    have fun w/that thing!

Thanks Ralph! I think I could even alternate Magnum's and Rimfires and see if there's much difference. Sounds like fun to me!

The 22 WRF (at one time called the 22 special) is a step up performance wise from the L.R. It's been obsolete for a long time but the ammo companies occasionally make a run of it. Fine performance, and "the cool factor"

I hunted for years with a RUGER 6 1/2" SUPER SINGLE SIX using W-W 22WRF in the 22MAG cylinder. THAT ammunition had 45GR LFN bullets at a clocked 1150FPS from the SSS's barrel and was deadly on small game, FAR more so that 22LR ammunition.

That's one reason I bought this. I wanted 45 gr. bullets, and the only other 45 gr. bullets they had were in some Hornady Self Defense .22 Mag. ammo with some special inserts, etc. About the same price. I like the old school!

CCI now offers it also and I believe it is cheaper than 22 magnum.

AC, good find -- I'd like to have one of those empty cases when you fire it -- interesting headstamp . . .
