At the range I shoot at, the pistol range ends at 50yds. So we shoot at that range quite often. I'm not going to say if I get em all COM though. Sounds like fun Doc, our range is frozen over !!!
Yesterday I ventured over to the rifle range to shoot the SBR and make sure it's little red dot was still sighted in.
I thought, "What the hey?!" and decided to load up the CCO and give it a try.
hmmmmmmmm..........
I don't have pics, but even with my old eyes through trifocals, I was able to put most of 'em COM.
Who'da thunk it?
Now, I know 50 yd shooting with a full size 1911 is a common thing among bullseye shooters, but I'd never shot a pistol at that range before. It's FUN!
In fact, it was so much fun I hope to go back today or tomorrow with some darker targets (just used the big, off-white, IDPA outline paper) and shoot with some match ammo. (And a spotting scope...dang it was hard to see hits at that distance)
Great hobby, ain't it?

That's very good!
The group I used to shoot with in the 1980s would shoot Fifty Yard stuff, ( with whatever one's Serivce Arm of usual League use was, and, mine was a plain Government Model made in 1914 ) and one of our favorites was to put a regular Playing card up, and, I could see and hit it then...now, I doubt I could see a Playing Card at that distance...Lol...
I dont shoot much at 50 yards either with the handguns. Off hand, with open sights, getting better than a 5" group is pretty hard- I'll have to check some of my old targets but i think 8" groups offhand is more usual for me.
Does "COM" stand for "center of mass"? What dimensions are center of mass outline? would it be an oblong area about 6" x 12",or a circular area of what radius? I have heard the center of mass description used but dont know what dimensions it is.
What is "SBR" and "CCO"?
Went back today with better targets and shot the LC9, too.
25 knot crosswind
50 yds
LC9
The Colt CCO at 50 yds (I think my trigger finger is pushing a lot of shots low/left.)
50 yds from the firing line
The Dinan took its place amidst the trucks
