>>I checked Brownells online and could only find steel guide rods for the Mustang and Pony. Could you please provide me with a link to the steel rod for the Government model? Thanks...!...TW<<
This is from Catalog #57 hard copy (2004-2005). I think it's the latest one? pg.106
"Scott McDougal Colt .380 Govt Guide Rod & Spring Plug" part no. 790-107-100 $39.50
There's also a seperate one listed for the Mustang and Pony on the same page.
Hope that helps.

>>Thanks very much for checking that out for me. I'll check tomorrow on that...just hope Brownells has back stock of this part because Mac Scott told me today he is no longer making this item - hasn't been since his partner died...although he does have a small supply of guide rods and springs for the Mustang and Pony. **See e-mail below...
Mr. Walsh..
My former company, Scott, McDougall & Associates, used to manufacture guide
rods and plugs for the Colt Govt. .380 pistol. Unfortunately, remaining
stocks of these parts were deplenished a couple of years ago, with
absolutely none remaining. The death last year of my business partner, Doug
McDougall, pretty much sealed this guide rod's fate as far as any further
manufacture by me.
I've fielded numerous inquiries regarding these rods in the recent past but,
alas, not enough to justify gearing up to produce such an item for a pistol
no longer being manufactured. I do have a small supply of plain guide rods
for the Mustang/Pony, but they're not compatible with the Govt. .380. I know
of no other source for this custom part.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings.
Best regards,
----Mac
