WTS: Brian Bilby customized Colt 1991

For sale is a Colt 1991 (series 80) .45 ACP, fully customized by the late Brian Bilby, of Advanced Combat Pistols fame. I purchased this pistol directly from Brian in 2000. The work involved includes the following:

• Full reliability job (throated barrel and polished feed ramp, ejection port lowered and flared front and back polished breech face, etc.)
• Kart match barrel and bushing fitted. Barrel is chrome moly and blued
• Wilson Combat beavertail, with the tang trimmed a bit to aid in concealment
• Ed Brown ambi tactical safety
• Heinie Slant-Pro rear sight. Novak front sight with a roll pin. No tritium inserts in either.
• Rear of slide serrated at 40 lpi, to match the Heinie rear sight.
• Videcki short aluminum trigger, tuned to roughly a 4.5 lbs pull.
• "Contoured" MSH. This was a speciality of Brian's, where he would take an Ed Brown wedge MSH, cut it down and shape so it matches the curve of the frame. This allows it to fill your palm better, and the feel is somewhere between that of a flat and arched MSH.
• Front strap and MSH stippled. Another trademark of Brian's. High grip also cut into the front strap, allowing for a higher grip.
• Hammer is an Ed Brown. I forgot exactly what Brian selected for the sear and disconnector, but they may be Caspian units.
• Extractor is a Caspian unit, if I recall correctly.
• Slide stop is the factory Colt unit
• Beveled mag well
• Light carry bevel on all edges
• Gun is parkerized
• Navidrex contoured micarta grips

The gun is a great shooter and reliable. There is no tightening of the slide to frame, and is not necessary. It shoots really accurately, thanks to the fitted Kart barrel. The trigger break is really crisp too. There is some finish wear, mostly around the grip area and safeties from gripping and shooting over the years. Fired approximately 3500-4000 rounds. Only selling because I don't shoot 1911s as much now, and the ones I do shoot, I prefer in a slightly different configuration (ie. I like more aggressive checkering these days). Comes with the original Colt box.
