I don't see the letter....
Attachment 19128WWI colt 5.jpgWWI Colt 1.jpgWWi colt 2.jpgWWI colt 4..jpgWWI colt 3.jpgWWI colt 5.jpgWWI Colt 1.jpg Letter confirms from family of veteran that this Colt 1911 was taken from US depot in France after the war. This is not Black Army...it is a full blue. Made in March 1918. Grandpa brought home two. Kept this one unopened until his death. (see letter) It was unissued and remained in cosmoline until family took it to gun shop in 2009 and had it professionally soaked to remove resin caked cosmoline. This makes this the only documented military 1911 that has remained pristine and unmodified since the day it was born. Even if you see a nice 1911 at gun shows you dont know what collector has improved it, switched parts or replaced barrels. This one is a bank vault. This one is a museum piece. First time offered for sale to public. Includes three half toned mags that came with the gun from Army depot. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. in "AS nearly" unfired condition as issued 1911...and documented. Fired 200 time by family after gunsmith released it form original resin protectorant in 2009...buyer will also get the DVD made by family.
Price is 10,000 with extra half tone early mags and complete documentation ...and even a DVD video from original family possession. Fully documented. Best Colt 1911 in my mind. Contact Col R at 816-830-2391. Hurry I leave for vacation Feb 1. See letter below

Spectacular gun - the only question I have is why are you declaring it is "unfired" when the "family letter" relates how at least 200 rounds were fired by the grandson - his son and girlfriend?? Am I missing something? Still a 'fantastic' piece of history..

Enjoy the ride - no-one gets out alive!
Lets dont get too extreme here
Its a term of expression..it expresses that the 100 year old gun is in unfired condition...shows no signs of wear. Of course its been fired..its been fired by the military inspector also in 1918. Please make only kind comments...photos and letter speak as to the the remarkable condition. It like saying new in box ...when we all know that an old colt only appears to be new in box...of course all COlts have been fired and its not new...its condition replicates as much as can be imagined to be new in the box...yet we dont attack a person for saying new in the box... as long as it appears to be new in box. I hope this forum is a kind and reasonable forum. We all know the deal...
sorry, but you state "unfired", clearly not the case.[h=2]WTS Unfired early COlt 1911[/h]

Why do we press harder on the buttons of a remote control when we know the batteries are dead?
I don't get it. It's "unfired" but we admit....."it's fired" several hundred times in fact.
I usually try not to comment in the classifieds section but I think the seller did make a mistake by saying unfired. Maybe he just didnt realize how us Colt guys are with this... To bad the family did not take the gunsmith advise, the gun would definetly be worth more if truely unfired. They could have trashed a bunch modern day 1911s for what value was lost here. What ever happened to the original factory packing/wrapping? Do you have it or was it tossed?
