Grips are relieved on inside of right panel for right-side grip safety; this is not evident from outside the right panel
I am told these grips will fit the Colt New Defender, but have no way of verifying that. The thread discussing this is appended below.

Yes--the relief cut is for a safety intended for left handed operation.
Here's a photo of the Officer's ACP from which the grips came. The right hand grip is relieved for the safety shown in the photo. As was said, this is an ambidexterious safety. The miniscule clearance cut is virtually unnoticable from the outside--check the photo of the interior grip panel. The only reason I mentioned it was because I don't want a purchaser to have any surprises.
