Temple where
Have a super nice 1st series Colt Woodsman in absolutely fantasctic shape with adjustable front site. No rust, i see about 3 very minor blemishes in metal and in picture behind saftey. Have box but not the paper that came with the pistol. Serial number puts manufacture date from 1939. If it has been shot then very must not have been much. Looks better than pictures! Located in Temple. $1,000.![]()

Sorry, Temple, Texas. First visit here on the Colt Forum and used to being on the Texas Hunting Forum. Thanks Wes
What is the shiny "stuff" in the inside front of the box, glue? Does the serial number of the box match the gun?
Yes the shiny "stuff" looks to be old glue. I never even knew the box had a serial number but yes its on the bottom of the box and matches. The end of the box says Woodsman Target w/partridge sight. Never knew the name of the sight either, just thought it was an adjustable sight. Thanks
Recheck that sight name. It will not be that of a bird. "Patridge" identifies the shape of the front sight face.
When posting pictures of a gun box, the label is the single most important feature to show, followed by any serial number located apart from the end label.
Thanks JudgeColt, and yes you are correct I mispelled the sight, it says Target Patridge Sight and I didn't know that. Here are a couple more pictures of the box with lable and the serial number on the bottom of the box except for the last digit. Thanks for the help.![]()
