    One might wonder if there is such a thing as ammunition shelf life. It's a good concern to have, as ammunition should only be used if one can rely on it to be safe.

    Granted, one might opine that if a person keeping sufficient ammunition to worry about expiring is probably not doing enough point shooting!.

    I have shot century old ammo in century old Guns. I have no problem shooting old ammo. When I was a deputy though we got new duty ammo every year. I used my old stuff to finish off deer from car wrecks and used it at the range. I never had a failure. We had to account for each round if we shot the new stuff though.

    I shot some .44 Mag the other day that I loaded over 30 years ago. I have some paper 12 ga shells I loaded when I was 16 (I'm 74 now) that I wouldn't hesitate to shoot but I want to keep them for nostalgia's sake. Maybe I'll shoot them if I make it to 90.
