    before and after.....

Earlier this year I bought a barely used Colt AR-15 9mm Carbine - just a run of the mill box stock carbine...

One of these, before changing a few parts pieces!

    FullSizeRender-5.jpg

And here it is as changed: removed the A2 front sight and replaced the hand guard with a UTG PRO 9" Aluminum hand guard, added a Surefire M6 Scout Flash light, Sig Sauer Romeo 5 Red Dot sight that is co-witnessed with some basic AR front and rear sights. I like it much better then the before image; range time tomorrow!

I'll get some better photos tomorrow!

I have an Olympic Arms M4 Carbine in .45 ACP. It doesn't have the fit and finish of a Colt but it's completely reliable, accurate and fun to shoot.

9mm carbine are nice to have, I don't have a Colt yet but I built my by myself a Rock River Arms (RRA) flat top A4 carbine way back in 2005.

I started with a stripped lower receiver then ordered RRA lower parts kit, RRA 9mm buffer, spring and BCM (Bravo Company USA Mfg.) buffer tube.

In the beginning back in 2005 I had Magpul older model MBUS 1 rear sight, Magpul MOE synthetic trigger guard, Magpul MOE grip and Magpul MOE buttstock.

I had to break in mine for around 300+ rounds before it became reliable, I use Colt and C Products stainless magazines and mostly military surplus SMG sub machine gun ammo.

Then in about 5 years after that I installed a Daniel Defense EZ CAR 7.0 drop-in carbine rail system (no longer being made), GG&G short vertical forward grip, Surefire G2 light.

This summer I changed my grip with new model Magpul SL (Slim Line) grip and Magpul SL-K (compact size) buttstock.

9mm carbine are economical and fun to shoot, great to shoot at indoor target ranges and my two kid boys and my wife likes to shoot them.

I've got three other Colt carbines and one Colt rifle, one of these days when I finish my current project I will upgrade to a Colt 6951 9mm carbine which is a higher quality than my RRA.

Olympic Arms still lists both a 10mm upper for an AR-type lower as well as a complete 10mm carbine. If it's anything like my .45 ACP Carbine it should be an awesome shooter.

I got my Magpul SL-K over 3 months by now and had shot it a couple of times, I like it better than the MOE that I replaced.

The SL-K have less movement on the buffer tube, slightly smaller and lighter, also I could add a Magpul M-LOK quick detachable sling mount at the slot of the buttstock pretty soon, so I could setup my 2 point sling.

The MOE buttstock works fine but it had slightly more movement on the buffer tube, heavier, and it does not have a quick detachable sling mount, I put it on my other AR carbine that I seldom use.

Let us know how you like your Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot sight, I'm thinking of getting a dedicated red dot sight for my carbine by next Spring time.
