Colt ending commercial sales of AR rifles???

Someone on another forum posted that Colt was suspending all sales of AR rifles to allow them to catch up with military and police sales.

This isn't verified, and the question was asked if this is Colt's way of exiting civilian sales of AR rifles entirely.
I remember Colt in 2003 saying that they were shutting down Python production so they could install new machinery.
    Then they discontinued the Python.

I'm questioning this because the AR is one of Colt's major lines.
However, it would be a way to avoid the "stigma" of making an evil assault weapon.

I haven't heard that...hope it's not true. AR rifles of most all types are pretty much down sales-wise since the 2016 election so maybe poor sales is driving the decision if, in fact it's true. It could also be virtue-signaling to the outside world that wants to ban them altogether. Colt has been there before under previous ownership. If that may be true Colt is on a fool's errand...again.

I did see a report that last month gun sales, especially of AR rifles was up due to the Democratic's talking up gun control.

Now that’s a real possibility. Really laughable, talking about a buyback. I don’t know numbers but I’d guess civilian owners of all AR types has gotta be way up there.

I've seen figures of at least 15 million AR-type rifles in private hands...maybe that includes all types of what the antis erroneously refer to as "assault" weapons. If that figure is anywhere near accurate that's no small number. When I go to gun shows and start seeing the tubular polymer waterproof containers for sale then I know the "Will Not Comply" crowd is taking the threats from politicians seriously. There will also be lots of "boat accidents" when rifles will be "lost" in waterways.

That’s a huge number,it doesn’t even have to be close,a buyback wouldn’t net 1% of them. I can’t see people giving them up under most circumstances. The whole idea isn’t even practical,of course the people coming up with the idea aren’t practical, either

I don't like AR's, all my guns are traditional type's blue steel and walnut. But any American citizen should be able to buy one if he is not a criminal or deranged. It's the Constitution, gun grabbing jokers- can you hear me now?

The hysteria and hollering about banning them by the new left- makes me think I need to get one.

There is a glut of AR's on the market now- so maybe Colt should ramp up SAA production as they sell at a high price before they go out the door.

Aw hell no, that would make to much sense.

The rumor is due the the “military marketing” aspect of of some “ARs” in the Sandy Hook lawsuit, Colt might drop the two Vietnam reissue guns, as may several other manufacturers. You will see tweaks and changes in the advertising by most companies regardless of the outcome of this suit. Colt wishes the had enough government business that it actually constrained civilian rifle sales. If they drop something it’s just because they got weak kneed.
