My LGS has a nice 1972 Colt AR 15 SP 1 for sale. 2 mags sling. No forward assist of course. Any idea what they are worth now? Is there much interest in these guns?
Thanks.
Yes, there's is a big following on these. The prices are all over the page on these though. Condition is everything. A good conditioned one seems to be running $1500-$2000
The SP1 is no longer legal in my state (but heavy barrel models are...go figure). When I see an SP1 at gun shows in neighboring states the tend to go in the $1500 range while the CAR-15 Carbine version goes for about $1800. That can change in different areas of the country.
I would guess it might go for about $1200 in Maryland but that's just a guess. Most M4 H-Bars in Maryland go for less than $1k for standard configuration regardless of make. The full-length rifles aren't as popular but fo sell for more when you can find them. The Colt name does help.
I would love to have an original Colt without a forward assist, Blockislander - as long as someone hasn't "modded it". If you decide not to buy it, would you please PM me with the store information? Thank you.
Thanks all. I just sent the LGS info to Bullet Bob.
