Needing help figuring out manufacture date of SP1

I have a Colt SP1 and the serial number is SP174074.

Hoping to get date of manufacture and approximate value.

    Thanks!

Colt Firearms offers a free serial number look-up service here to provide manufacturer date: https://www.colt.com/serial-lookup

As far as value check the various gun sales websites (Gunbroker.com, etc.)

Doing a bit more research it looks like an 82 or 83 model.

According to my personal notes taken from AR15.com SP1 owners survey way back in 2006, your rifle s/n SP 174XXX was made in early 1983.

As for value they usually go high on states with assault rifle bans, pre ban usually goes for over $2K but now that Colt is no longer selling AR to civilians it should be higher.

The SP1 isn't legal here in Marylandstan but in surrounding states they're going for $1500-$1800 with the carbine versions a bit more.
