    A swiss made Navy

A Sauerbrey Navy, made in Switzerland. Valentin Sauerbrey was a german gunsmith, engaged 1846 - 1881 by the arsenal in Basel. Four Navies 51, one Pocket 48 are still in Swiss collections. The gun in my collection (photo) is serial # 22. Revolvers made by Sauerbrey were exposed in Paris 1855 and 1862 under "Sauerbrey Revolver (Colds System)"

Looks to be a high quality firearm. Interesting the dimensional differences: for example the wedge is small compared to the Colt.

A very collectable revolver you have there, just for interest and research, dose the revolver have any European proof marks on it.
Many thanks for posting a nice looking revolver.

A civil gun, no proof mark on the revolver. Only Vetterli-Rifles and prototype weapons made by Sauerbrey made fo the Swiss Army are proofed.
