rayb, Great job of keeping records of Colt Cowboys. Your postings have really given everyone a good understanding of all the variants for that limited production Colt single action. I saw one at LGS last week that had been re-blued, including the frame. I believe it was in the TF13xxx range. It had the 5-1/2" barrel. I will try to get full SN if it is still there when I visit today.

I have TF07997, 5.5 inch bbl, .45LC, standard black plastic grips.
This is my first post. Is there a master list on these somewhere?

Hi folks, found this forum while researching my Colt Cowboy. I purchased it new in 1999, 5 1/2" barrel, case colored frame, checkered rubber grips, 45 Colt. I paid $450 for it. Serial number TF01716. I remember when I purchased it gun writers and others maligned this revolver, but I have fired several thousands of my handloads with nary an issue. It is an accurate, well-balanced arm, and has a pretty good trigger pull as well. Matter of fact, all of my "real" SAA revolvers (all of them) needed trigger work for me to be pleased with them. Not this one. Excellent shooter.

A list of those serial numbers reported is maintained. Any complete serial number list is at Colt.
I'll be happy to send you a copy of the 330 + serial numbers reported to date. Send me an e-mail.

We're up to 335 serial numbers, or about 2.4% of reported production.
Most reported to date are 5 1/2" barrel, blue with case colored frame and black plastic eagle stocks/grips.
About 4% of those reported have 7 1/2" barrels, all except one very early number are over serial # 10,000.
About 15% have repoted 4 3/4" barrels, most but not all over serial number 11,000.
Thank you to all those who have continued to contribute information.

    Thanks

Tf14076. These are great guns and made well. They are getting collectable. I will use mine . There's no luggage rack on a Hearst.

We're up to 340 serial numbers, about 2.4% of reported production.
Most reported to date are 5 1/2" barrel, blue with case colored frame and black plastic eagle stocks/grips.
About 4% of those reported have 7 1/2" barrels, all except one very early number are over serial # 10,000.
About 15% have reported 4 3/4" barrels, most but not all over serial number 11,000.
Of the numbers reported, about 10% have been a commerative or some sort of special order, which is interesting.
So far all reported are 45 Colt.

Thank you to all those who have continued to contribute information.

    Thanks
