    Used Python price

What is a good price for an early 80's model 6 inch stainless steel Python? I have been looking to buy one for quite sometime and it seems most of the ones I find are quite expensive and are not in that great of shape. I have passed on ones that are NIB because I intend on shooting it and I do not want to ruin a collectors piece.

I've been seeing them in good condition for $2800 to $3000 with no box at local shows.

Why an early 80's (might coincide with the strike years) rather than a late 70's?
