    Colt Archives

    What is the archive and how do I go about working with colt about the archives is it free how do I get started? I have on old colt from the Scranton Police Dept. #3 where do I take it from here? I am going to a gun show in Allentown PA. this weekend in search of the right grips for this colt 38 bankers special.How do I know what the orig. grips looked like or do I just count my self lucky if I find grips that fit. I need some help once again guys. Thanks Tony C.

    Go to the Colt commercial site, www.coltsmfg.com and click on archive services. The fee for a factory letter for a Bankers Special should be $75.00. The letter will include the spec's of the gun when it left the factory [barrel length, finish, stocks, etc.] as well as to who and where it was shipped. The standard stocks for a Bankers Special were checkered walnut with Colt medalions.
