Almost forgot to say very nice PPT'S, wish I had them !!
I can only assume that Colt did not have the buyers address. I have seen it listed this way on the letters many times. Colt, of course, shipped it to one of their dealers and this was shown on the letter.

Thought I'd add my 4 to the thread. Note the 4 different ejector heads. Bottom left is a 22WRF, rest are std. 22.

Does anyone know when the word "Target" was actually stamped on these guns? None of mine have it. The top right gun, in my previous post, started this mess. It was given to me by an old family fiend who passed a couple of years ago at 99. Her father had given it to her Mother for protection while he traveled. Here's another view of it with it's original holster.

About 40 years ago I had one of these in 22 x 6" flattop, blue, chequered walnut with deep set medallions. It had apparently been loaned to Britain in 1940, with proof tonage etc stamped under barrel. A very accurate little revolver to shoot!

It seems odd for a flattop target gun to be ordered in nickel. Even the front and rear sights are bright shiny nickel. I guess that W. J. Matter got what he wanted! That "32 Police" caliber - is that actually a 32 S&W or 32 S&W Long?

The word TARGET was stamped on the barrel of the 2nd model .22 caliber guns. Look at the last picture in the above post by Kingcobb. What caliber is your gun? It looks to be a second model.

thecoltguy, Thanks for your reply. Both of the guns on the right are early second models [top 33700, bottom 33062] .22 cal. Neither has " TARGET" on them. Just for reference, the ones on the left are top 5069, .22 and bottom 1142 .22wrf. Jim

Here is my LNIB Police Positive Target 22 c1933 with vintage custom grips, not Ropers. Grips were found at one of the Hartford Gun shows in Glastonberry in the 70s and fit like a Glove. Jackson
