    Fixed it

So, the pin fits exactly as it should in both grip locator holes. Off of the gun- With the grips together and locator pin in place, the seams are perfect and fit is perfect. Absolutely no wiggle either. That means donít mess with the locator pin holes if you can help it. If you change the hole shape, it will affect seams and wiggle I believe. Itís perfect from the VZ factory in all those respects.

So , check which grip is not going completely on the grip frame by trying each one at a time with the locator pin in place.
Mine was the left grip. I very carefully, only a few swipes at a time, and filed just a little bit to get it on. filed around the inside curved edge of the left grip. Iíve got a tight and perfect fit. The grip requires a slight pressure. Pops on like the factory grips do on my old Cobras. Fits like a glove.

I Agree with Snidley. These grips are so precise, I would suspect the MIM part variance as much as the grip. Iíve got one New Cobra with perfect timing and the other.. not so much so thatís telling you something.

I filed here and issue solved. .. where the solid black surface meets the gray along that curved edge. This curved edge is having to fit along the curved inside edge of the grip frame and a burr or variance on either surface keepsthe grip from sitting flush. You want it tight so the grips donít wiggle.

Pin in place. Solid as a rock.
These grips are perfectly fit on this gun.

Great improvement WWYS! Much better than the rubber that comes with it.

Awesome, Bob. I figure it’s less time involved than boxing back up, returning, waiting, and hoping the next is good, I spoke with a person from VZ at the customer service number listed on their website today. The young lady Indicated they have received a number of issues with the Cobra grips. I filled out a customer questionare online and included a link to this thread to explain to VZ what was going on with mine. They probably already know, but anyway.

I also did the file fix on mine. Very simple and quick. Thanks for making it easy to pinpoint the problem. I must say, they really do make the gun stand out.

    Looking sharp there, Buicksman.
I keep checking this thread to see who else has received or gotten their set on.. of course with some people working during the week, they probably gotta find the time to fool with it all too. I’m hoping someone else opted for a different color or style just to check it out.
The websites have photos, but sometimes professional advertisements online don’t look the same as the really do at home.

Got mine today and fit very tight. Had to wiggle them and put pressure and they snapped into place. Went with a different color than everyone else. No logo but that’s ok with me.

I'd get a couple of the Colt emblems and carefully drill the proper size opening on the stocks and epoxy them in. I've done it before on wood stocks and it's not difficult...just be careful.
