If you do a Google search on "buntline 16 inch barrel", you can find some references to revolvers with extra long barrels. Colt made at least one model with a 16 inch barrel, Uberti makes them and Chiappa as well. It just depends on how much you want to spend and what you will be satisfied with. I know that everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes but if I wanted a short barreled gun with a shoulder stock, I would find a lever action carbine. Easier to operate, larger cartridge capacity and no hazards to hands or face. And no convoluted legal questions.

You need to be a little more specific. What is the actual model name on the gun? Is is a Buntline Scout or a Peacemaker .22 or is it a full size SAA that has been converted to .22? There were a few prototype Frontier Scouts with six inch barrels and, of course, the Peacemaker .22 with six inch barrel is popular (but is not marked "Buntline" on the barrel. There were also some Colt commemorative .22 single actions with six inch barrels. If you have the gun in your possession, some photos and the serial number would be very helpful.

Have no idea how it applies to a Colt SAA, but even though the shoulder stock (either original or reproduction) is legal for the 8" "Artillery" Luger, and the 6" Navy Luger, the stocks are slightly different even though the attachment method is identical. The BATF is specific in noting that the stock must be the original type stock made for the the pistol, and cannot be interchanged. All of the military Lugers after 1913 had a stock lug, but a stock was never made for the military (P.08) 4" Luger, and therefore a shoulder stock cannot be legally attached to one.

Years ago an aquaintance wanted me to make a shoulder stock for a Dan wesson revolver using a spare set of grips. I told him it was illegal, and he mentioned the black powder revolvers, Lugers etc., which have a different catagory.
The law doesn't make any sense as its illegal to convert a shotgun into a hadngun or make a short barreled rifle, but these are legal when made in those configurations.
