    New Acquisition - Detective Special

This just arrived yesterday. I had been looking for a late-model Detective Special, and I found this over the weekend.

It's used, but aside from a little holster wear on the muzzle and a few small dings in the grips, it's in very good condition. It's very tight and has a good, smooth trigger. A serial number lookup indicates it was made in 1974.

I have only one picture at the moment, but here it is:

Nice addition! Looks to be in about the same condition as mine from 72. I like that they have a little bit of wear, so we're more likely to shoot and use them as they were intended.

I went to clean this earlier this evening, and I took a patch with solvent and ran it up the barrel. I did this a few times, and then I noticed something odd. What appears like thin strips of film came out of the barrel -- from the grooves, I'm guessing. Has anyone has this happen before, and can someone tell me why?

Everything else about this gun seems to be in good shape.

Synthetic/polymer coated bullets or shotshells would my first guess.
