    Exclamation Colt Boa!!!!

Wasn't the Boa intended to be a lower cost alternative to the Python?

$9500 and climbing! And I thought Pythons were expensive!

I remember when the Boa and the Peacekeeper first came out and you couldn't give them away; they were too butt early at the time!!!!

Nice gun, but wow! I could imagine an entire gun with the "plumb" color bluing.

The Colt Boa was a limited production model made only for Lew Horton Distributing.
It was sold only by Horton and as I recall, the special issue sold out before most people even heard of them being available.
It was a special one-off model and was never intended to become a standard production Colt model.

Colt only made 600 each in 4 inch and 6 inch barrels, and 600 two gun sets of a 4 inch and 6 inch.

These are heavily sought by Colt collectors both for the rarity and for people trying to build a complete snake gun collection.
When you see one for sale the price is sky high. Not as high as a rare Colt 3 inch Python, but prices will only go up as the Boa disappears into collections.

Colt had the cylinder releases of their DA revolvers in the 80's and 90's made by a contractor.
For some reason many of these releases have a slight purple color, either due to the steel used or the bluing operation.

Plum bluing , according to the big red Ruger book , is an indicator of an investment casting , and a steel alloy high in silicon. High silicon helps steel flow into the details of the molds better , and is ultra strong. Stuff like jack-hammer chisels are made from high silicon (S-5 , S-7) steels.
