short barreled 1877 LETTER ARRIVED with pic

Just picked up a colt trooper 357 and a colt lightning. The barrel length on the lightning is 2". I measured from muzzle to where the cylinder meets the chamber. I can't find much about barrel lengths that are two inches. the sn puts it made in 1880. Any info greatly appreciated.

Pics up. Hard to see the etched markings on the barrel. On the other side of the barrel it just stamped "colt". No markings on the top of the barrel. Any other pics anyone wants let me know.

Standard non ejector barrels were 2 1/2 & 3 1/2. However special orders were available. Recommend getting an archive letter from Colt. Also please post pictures.

Neat gun and one that I would love to own. A factory letter is a must on that one. Thanks for posting.

So would it really be worth it to spend the 100 bucks to get a factory letter on this one?
Its hard to see but the number on the butt is matching too. Depends on what angle you hold it to be able to see it.

thanks for all the replies. I guess I will get the ball rolling on the papers. I lucked out I guess, figured it was just a common lightning worth maybe 300 bucks.
