This Officer's Model Target was made in 1912. It is a 38 caliber. As you will see it has the early blue finish with fire blue parts and screws. These are a bit hard to find in this condition. Rampant Colt is there, but hard to see in the pictures.
That’s outstanding Mentallapse! Do you know when Colt stopped using the fire blue small parts? Our Officers Model from (if I remember correctly) 1914 doesn’t have any. It does have the high polish finish and the same style grips as yours. Anyway thanks for sharing with us. Always love seeing these old target revolvers.
Thanks JohnnyP. Our revolver does have the bright finish, but the small parts are not that beautiful fire blue like on the example shown by Mentallapse. Probably part of the changeover.
That is an outstanding example of the craftsmanship that Colt's was producing prior to WWI. Nice score. I would have to run a few cylinders full of target velocity wadcutters through it just to experience how it shoots.
