    1909 Colt Army Special

I recently ran across an ad to sell a Colt Army Special. 1909 vintage in .38special with a 4.5 " barrel, fixed sights in 80% condition. Seller listed it as $700.00.

I like it & the factory blueing is pretty good. Has a set of Tyler "T" grips installed, not my favourite....

I don't think its worth $700.00. What sayeth you?

Is that $700 in Canadian dollars?
If so, YES, overpriced by a couple of hundred given your condition description.

Completed Auctions on GunBroker are from $230 to $705 for sold 1903 Army's. Anything above that in price did not sell.

Ya, C$700.00. I believe that the seller has gotten some advice either claiming antiquated value or some special provenance due to age.
    I offered him C$300.00., & I think thats a fair price.....

That would be an entirely different gun.

I don’t know the Canadian market at all, and someone else’s condition judgment by percentage without any photos is always iffy, but for an all-original very early Army Special at 80% in the US $300 would be very low and no one in his right mind would sell for that.

The early 4.5” barrel is not common. I have a 1909 AS in 38 with the 4.5 barrel just to have one, then I found a 41 colt army special with a 4.5 barrel. If you were in the US, I would ask $425 for mine plus shipping but your in Canada so it’s a moot point.
