    Police Positive MK V

I found this rather scarce Police Positive MK V at a LGS. It is in outstanding condition with no apparent wear. This is the first one I have seen in my area. In the Colt SN Look-up it shows up as 1994 production.

They're damn nice revolvers. 1994 sounds right...a one year only production run I believe. I added Colt/Pachmayr Presentation grips to mine as I like them better than the Compacs. I don't know why Colt put the Compacs on a 4" barrel revolver but I suspect it might be due to the gun not fitting in the molded plastic box for revolvers with Presentation grips but would with Compacs.

A great choice for the larger "D" frames like this are the Pachmayr "Gripper".
This is a contoured grip that fits the hand better then either the Compac or Presentation, and is an "in between" size of the other two.

You didn’t say what the LGS was asking for the police positive 38. I hope to add one to my collection some day but when they hit the $7-800 mark, I am out as that is where I can find a blued 4” diamondback.

Matt, those target DB grips look great on your gun!! If I were going to keep and shoot mine, I might put the same grips on it. I plan to trade it off at the next gun-show to a dealer who likes such limited production Colts. He has plenty Colt collectors who visit his shop quite regularly. I just hope he has something that will interest me, if not, I will stow it away for a while.
