I picked up another hard to find Detective Special in 38 New Police. This one dates to 1949 and has the early frame with a checkered hammer. It is dual tone.
I found one in 32 NP at the OGCA show last weekend. It is also a dual tone and was made in 1948. I like the grips. They have a nice look to them. The box is not numbered.
Colt's Dick Special, Cobras and Agents are still the finest snubbies made by anyone. The competition, even today, still holds only five rounds. For their size, quality and capabilities nothing else matches them.
In Gary Peer's book he estimates about 400 if my memory is correct. I suspect there may have been more but they are hard to find.
