When did New Service barrels change?

What year did NS barrels stop being straight untapered to tapered like on my old familiar .45 here? Or just wider where they join the frame? I think this gun is 1930 or 31 and the grips are definitely incorrect.

I believe the U.S. Model 1917 Revolver was the first to use the barrel with the step.

The first Colt Model 1917 Revolver was shipped October 24, 1917.

They changed for the US model 1917, However, during the mid thirties in an effort to clean up parts they did put older not flared barrels on later produced frames.

Thanks. This is the one that Colt could not find info on when I ordered a letter to verify the finish as original.
