A Reunion of Two 1928 Atlanta Police Positive Specials!!

I won a nail biter of a Gunbroker auction for the 2” PPS marked “Atlanta Detective Dept. No. 25” and picked it up today.

The 4” version has been in my collection for over 10 years. It bears the blackstrap inscription “Atlanta Police Dept. No. 29”.

Both are from 1928 by serial number.

After consulting with a forum member who has extensive knowledge of this model, I’m told this would be about the time the PPS 2” was renamed as the Detective Special.

I love the history of my police revolvers. What are the chances that the patrolman and the detective that carried these guns knew each other 91 years ago???

There is certainly some more research to be done!!

It is good that they are together again!!

    Best,
    Charles

I like that Colt script style of engraving backstraps. A great addition to your collection, I'm sure!

Would think good chance knew/acquainted with each other.

Bet Atlanta in 1928 was a happening Southern place to live, and to be a LEO...
