    Engraved Bankers Special

My friend, Bob Yurina, was a master gunsmith in VaBeach who started doing some engraving. Bob passed away several years ago at a fairly young age. I had an old Bankers Special that was shipped to Iver Johnson, Boston, MA in 1936 that had very little finish left. I asked Bob to engrave it with an Iver Johnson/Colt motif. I think he did a great job on it.

This documentation is an interesting story in itself. Why would Colt be shipping one of their revolvers to Iver Johnson?
I can't think of a logical reason for doing this!!

Iver Johnson had a retail business selling sporting goods, including Colt's and other guns. So did Winchester and other gun manufacturers.

I have also had several Colt's that lettered to Iver Johnson. Here's a page from one of their catalogs.

Stix, I was amazed at the detail Bob incorporated in the owl!! I think it would even please Iver Johnson or as the old timers around here say, Ivory Johnson.

Fine example of when ‘ less is more’ elegantly done. He had fine control of his gravers and knew when to not embellish. It takes lots of discipline to achieve’ less is more’
