Letter arrived!! Who is “E. Mendoza”?

I suspect this one may have gone south of the border.

Anyone familiar with E. Mendoza?? Whoever he is, he bought three of these!!!

    Charles:

Given that Mendoza isn’t exactly an uncommon or exotic name south of the border, pretty much your only hope will be that Senor Mendoza was a dealer and ordered more guns from Colt, and that maybe somebody here lettered a gun shipped to him where the shipping ledgers revealed more information than his initial and last name.

    Good luck!

I checked the listing of Colt dealers in Goddard's book under both E. Mendoza and Mendoza and didn't find anything. Nice Police Positive and I'll bet nickel with pearls was a popular combo for wealthy ranchers in whatever area that it ended up in.

It's not necessarely "South of the border".

    1. The name is Hispanic in it's origins(both Spanish and Portuguese).
    2. And, of course, there are lots of "old" Hispanic names "North of the border".
