    Your choice?

Why would you pick one over the other? (Colt or S&W 1917.)

Well, with "the horde" coming over the hill, I'd take the best shooter.
    Love to have the choice!

That Smith is in better condition. I have a lot of New Services, so I'd try the Smith.

I still carry an N frame S&W on occasion, never a New Service. The Smith feels right, the New Service feels awkward to me. I like em and have some, but forget about hitti'n anything with one D.A.

The S&W - it's easier to shoot, and it's in the best condition.

I agree, that's another factor. The NS is a huge gun, and I carry them just because I like them and Colts, but it's not exactly a weapon of choice compared to the mid sized frames for me.

I have a 1917 smith and had owned a 1917 colt. I am a big guy to start with but with the colt you need mitts as big as Godzilla`s in comparison to the smith.

This question has come up before, and if you search those previous threads, you will find that it is widely recognized that the S&W 1917 is a nicer shooter with a smoother action and a better finish.

I'd go for the Smith based on the reasons mentioned above - nicer condition and easier to hold.
