Help with questions about my OMM .22 history

Last year I bought one of my grail guns. OMM .22 #75949, looks to be from 1958 or so. pulled the grips off and lo and behold...H B Watts, has been professionally stamped into the frame.. the lettering is filled in and did not come out when scrubbed with hoppes. I would guess this is someones' name? It doesn't bother me at all, just curious if the factory did this, maybe a gunsmith? maybe a ranking policeman, a ceremony? who knows?? this revolver has a wonderful action and trigger..Internet turns up very little..So a factory letter may give some insight? Any ideas or comments on the gun are welcome! condition/value/history ect......thanks

My guess it’s been done by a previous owner at some point. Not factory so a letter is probably a waste of money. If the factory was going to do it as a special order it would be where is would be seen like on the back-strap or side-plate.

You have a fine looking and I'm sure very fine shooting OMM. I think that skilled hit it right on the head. It looks like the owner had his name engraved to the frame. Probably just for ID purposes, in a spot the wouldn't ruin the finish.

That's a beauty. Thankfully, the prior owner didn't use an auto engraving pen on a visible surface.

Nice gun! Yup, it happens... My detective special came similarly autographed:

It was suggested in my case that the RC is for the Rampant Colt! That’s the story I’m sticking with...
