    Bisleys, Budweiser, And Skeeter Skelton

Skeeter Skelton once wrote about when he was kid in Portales N.M. a local merchant had one gun and carried it in a Myres Half Breed shoulder holster. A 38-40 Bisley. the article was about the man who only owns one gun and probably knows how to use it. Skeeter said the only use he seen the gun put to was to pop caps off Budweiser bottles, giving him his first tate of bottled beer. I had to try it and it works perfectly. Cheers!
BTW. I took my 32-20 apart today and all it needed, besides a good cleaning and oiling, was a new t&b spring. Works great now.

Now that's certainly a good enough reason to own a Bisley IMO.

Skeeter Skelton was the greatest of gunwriters. He spoke to us as no man has. His influence on my shooting preferences lives on.

Yup. I've never been much of a beer drinker. I used to drink Canadian whiskey, then it was Irish.
I switched to Russian vodkas awhile back. But, I can't drink like I used to!

    Great post, Matt.

Rats! Until I saw the picture, I thought he meant SHOOTING the bottle caps off the beer bottles. Some shooting I was thinking. Oh, well, Skeeter probably could have shot them off (Unless he's had too many beers first).

Bisleys handle all weird for myself, but I do enjoy the look of that old gun. I'll admit, I don't remember anything about them working as a bottle opener-that is cool!

Colt Forum is great, no one going on the "guns & booze" tangent. I got news for them if they're lurking-like a friend of mine that doesn't drink said-"If you can't trust yourself around guns when your drinking, you probably shouldn't drink, or shouldn't own guns."

Now I understand why I've seen so many Bisley's with broken hammer spurs
