A study of the serial numbers illustrates that production has been drastically curtailed in the last few years. Looks like no more than 2000- 3000 for two years. Wow! No wonder you don't see them in stores.

So Kid...do you know when Colt stopped shipping the SAA's in blue hard plastic cases and switched to the blue card board box with white outer sleeve? Can you add this to your time line?

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Thank you for the post. It cleared up a couple of family mysteries related to Single Action Army pistols I received when my dad passed. Also the date of manufacture of the ones I bought. Once again thank you.

They never Stopped....Blue Boxes with white Sleeves are considered "Custom Shop or Special run Customer Orders" Blue Plastic cases are Standard production guns.

Both May be correct , Information complied from as noted at end of Original Post. Special Run Guns could have been done on Special Order vs. Standard production run.

I'm going away now, it's passed coffee thirty...

PS...Don't get hung up on the EXACT dates and Numbers..It's a Guide Line, reference and we all know nothing in the Firearm World is Absolute. Changes have and will occur again. ALSO...These are not Shipping Dates. Some Firearms could have sat at the factory for extended period of time before being shipped.
