How do I find USN & USMC DA revolvers?

Where do I look to try to find sea service DA revolvers? I haven't been interested in these guns since Gunlist was full sized and thick. Gun Report days. I don't even know where to start these days. I bought a nice S&W 1899 USN from a website very recently, but I can't possibly search each and every site constantly. Any advice would be helpful.

I have a Colt Model 1905 Marine Corps Revolver with Colt letter verifying Serial number, Caliber, BB, Finish and shipped to...
    Serial number is 466..
    Caliber: .38/c
    Barrel: 6"
    Finish Blue
    Sold to: U.S. Government
    October 13, 1906.
Not cheap but might sell for the right price.

DHolder, your interests seem to be very specific. I think buying from someone that can produce provenance is your best choice since finding them on your own will take some time.

BRG, I Know they are incredibly rare and have always been expensive, even in the 1990's when I bought a couple of them. I Know there are no bargains on USMC Colts. I'm already interested, so please tell me more. If you don't want to give me a price at this time, a general range would help, or even a "more-than but less-than" , so I have some idea. I thank you for resonding to my first post. Dave Holder

    Dave,

If you're looking for specific sites to periodically check, I'd suggest:

    • GunBroker. This is probably the largest source online, and they have a pretty good reputation. Stay away from Gunlist - too many scams run there.
    • Joe Salter. Usually high quality old Colts, but expensive.
    • This Forum's Classifieds. Check for sale, and list want to buy. Much knowledge here, and very honest people.

There are probably other sites as well. I'd recommend an occasional Google search for "Colt Navy DA" . That may also uncover other good hunting sites to add to those above.
