    D Frame models

Hi fellows, I'm new here. I acquired a great set of grips, and find myself in need of a revolver to put them. The grips I have fit the long D frame, and they are round butt. I'm under the impression most of what I'd find out there to fit that bill are Police Positive Specials and Detective Specials, but I'd like a 6 inch barrel. Is there a model variation and vintage I should be looking for? I'm not to picky about the caliber. This will be my first Colt.

Well that's the way to go about gun collecting. Not making fun of you but acknowledging that I do it that way, sometimes. Sometimes I get a set of dies in trade or once I got 50 pieces of brass. Oh yeah, I understand.

I guess the Police Positive Special would be what you're looking for. IIRC there are 2, 4, 5, and 6 inch barrels. Time frames, not so sure of that.
    Sincerely,
