List has been updated for #530 and #3784. I also rearranged the columns a bit to rebalance and show the serial range better for each year.

spacecoast1 a Most Excellent Presentation. Good Job.

Since we are looking at Bushing 380's
Here are a few police pistols...
Yes, I have shown them before...
    still fun to look at.

    My Three Guns,
The First Colt Pocket Hammerless in Police use.

Popular belief is PDNY was first (New York City Police) to use the hammerless.
Actually it was Boston....as in the "
    Metropolitan Parks Commission" in 1908.

    Metropolitan Parks Commission
    M.P.C. No.34,No.155 and No.161
Boston Police Department M1908 .380 Cal

    Factory inscribed on grip safety.

Earliest known M1908's used by a PD.
All three are type II with the
    separate barrel bushing.

    1908-1913 3 of 214

    ,

These three MPC pistols took over 5 years to gather back together.
Starting with No-34 in 2010 in a FTF trade in PA. for a PDNY Hammerless.

No-161 was next in 2012 found by a friend visiting a show in OK.
whom made arrangements to get the pistol.

No-155 came from TX via a forum member here that had been
in his family long enough to have served in WWII
although it was never established how used or what theater.
I sure wish guns could talk....

Over a hundred years ago these three started out in
the short lived Metropolitan Park Commission Police, Boston.

Then there was the name game:

In 1919 the Massachusetts State Legislature consolidated
three separate unifunctional agencies serving the Boston metropolitan area.
As a result, the Metropolitan Park
    Commission Police were renamed
    to the Metropolitan District Police.

Whom then went on strike, were promptly fired and replaced.
The striking policemen were not allowed to recover their jobs.
But that is a whole other story.

The Pistols we are talking about here were all
originally issued between 1908 and 1913
and represent the earliest known Police issue use
    of the Colt Pocket Hammerless.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Found another Barrel Bushing pistol (#1869) at coltautos.com - Colt Pistols and Revolvers for Firearms Collectors - Model 1903 .32 ACP & Model 1908 .380 ACP Pocket Hammerless Police Department Marked Pistol Variations, and also adjusted the serial number range to agree with Brunner based on inputs from this thread.

Found four more guns for the list in prior auction listings, bringing the total found up to 90 -

    215 -
    https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/...ntoryid=260111

    505 -
    https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...pistol-380-acp
    (engraved, ivory grips)

    708 -
    https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/...ntoryid=456701

    4664 -
    https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...audley-holster

There are one or more additional Type II guns that will be in an upcoming auction(s) that I will hold off posting in case someone is also looking at bidding for it (them). I think most collectors appreciate when everyone does their own research and due diligence in searching out guns for sale.

Found one more on a 6 year old post made right here - #338. We're now up to 91 documented .380 Hammerless Type IIs.

With all the interest in the .380 hammerless, I find it odd that only one single digit gun is accounted for.

And we're lucky that one is safe and sound, considering it was stolen at one time and (incredibly) recovered decades later.

    Tom,
I think 1494 is taking up too much room. You need to free up some space.
