I have the Lew Horton edition 1 of 141. It has a portrait of Sam on the top of the slide in gold. Its royal blue with gold accents. I also know they made about 75 in stainless. It appears to me that there is 3 variations of Sam Colt Bicentennial. Some have a portrait on the grips and some have the colt factory in gold on the slide. The one that I own appears to be the most elaborate. Theres a Lew on GB now for 2495.00

The one I saw had Sams head on the grips. I’m guessing that was the lowest priced one in the series.

Gee, I could see a Browning commemorative 1911, though JMB was dead too but Sam died 47 years before the 1911 was introduced.... but that's just me. Some guns are collectable due to their craftsmanship, condition, rareity and beauty. Some are, for better or worse, designed and marketed as collectables.

Sam Colt had nothing to do with JMB's 1911. Colt was long dead. Bicentennial what? Why? Seems like a marketing ploy to me.
Sam Colt was equally dead when the Colt Single Action Army made its debut in 1873.

I could see a Heritage commemorative 1911 for JMB, even today, but Sam Colt & the 1911 linked?
Someone want to spell this one out please.

    Which Sam Colt Bicentennial?
If you look at Google pic's, there appears to be a least 3 versions?

Wouldn't a Patterson make the most sense to have made into a bicentennial gun?
    Cheers,
