    Cmp m1911 received

    Fellow Members,
I just received my M1911 from CMP. It is a late war Ithaca frame and a late war Colt slide. The barrel is HS with strong rifling and no pits. It looks pretty good to me but I do not know all of the nuances of the stampings and parts so I would appreciate any insight from the experts. Pictures included below .

    Thank you,
    Foxdoublegunner

Rebuilt in December of 1978 to 'serviceable' condition, then stored.

Congratulations on submitting your paperwork properly and getting a seat on the first flight. I’ll be along next trip. Was the ticket price worth the trip?

    Storm2,
I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the pistol. At first I was a bit wary based on some of the early pistols with off brand commercial slides that people were getting. I would have been disappointed myself with one of those. The pistol that I received looks good and is something that I am proud to have in my collection. It was worth the wait, paperwork and price. The FFL that is handling the transaction was impressed.
I have had good experiences with the CMP in the past, first with my purchase of a high condition M1 Garand a number of years ago and then with the purchase of a high condition Bavarian M1 Carbine. Both were acquired for a very fair price and have functioned flawlessly. This pistol purchase has been every bit as satisfactory. I wish you luck.

Just out of curiosity...what was your lottery number? Still waiting for the call. I received my lottery number back in January.

So much for the 'rusty , mixed-up , worn-out rattle-traps'' all the internet experts said they'd be.
