Have you seen something like this ??? I know that the British loved lanyard loops.
I am ordering an archive letter - but maybe there is someone who can help me with some sister or brother of my pistol. The finish is original. The proofs could be early (that is 1906) as the small markings are in the usaual places for an early London proof. But it seems possipble that the pistol was proofed (again?) in the 1950, as there is the Birmingham Marking for 1955 on the pistol too...tricky.

Here's 946 (not my gun) -- also LL (slightly different position) and BP

    Thumbs up more details!!!!!

Wow, we are getting quite a bit of information together...Thank you very much!!!
I think there is a possibility my pistol was proofed again in the 1950 years and the original London proof was overstamped.
Please have a look at the details of the stamp on the barrel. Now I am really looking forward to the archive letter......

Those 2 loops appear to be of the same design.

I think there is a big differnce - the loop on No. 946 is fixed and looks like the loop on a British sporting rifle where you fix the rifle sling. I think they are called sling studs.
My pistol No. 957 has a swivel of the type that was used on the British service revolvers like in the picture. That is why I have little hope it was a factory job. I am really looking forward to the archive letter..

I have that one now, it bounced from East coast to West coast and back again
Anyway here's a wider shot of the ejection port (and the bar-type swivel just for grins), if you want any other pics let me know.
I doubt the barrel on yours was changed.

Yours is very interesting, hopefully the letter will have more detail

    that is a beauty!!!
Our guns have the same type of "new" British proof.

I have to find out why those Brits did not trust there own old proofs from before WWI...
But the old proofs said nothing about the caliber and maximum presssure... Maybe there is someone among us who knows more...

None of the lanyard rings appear to be factory

To my knowledge No. 5929 went to Britain with a factory lanyard loop ... as far as my pistol is concerned I do not know. But there is a good chance that you are right. let us wait for the archive letter from Colt.
I just had a look at the Webley Pistol of those days... Someone could have got the idea of this lanyard swivel from this ugly pistol...Only thing is: The Webley is a later design....

This is the factory letter for 5929, indicating it went to the London office with the lanyard "swivel"...
hopefully the letter for yours will come back a little more specific.
