    Colt Conversion 22 LR

I have a Colt Conversion Kit 22 LR for a Super 38. The serial number on the top is 9136. When I try to look up what year it was manufactured, all of the Colt conversion kit numbers seem to start with a "U". Can anybody help me on the year it was manufactured?

    Thanks, Richard

We're going to need some pic's of your Colt .22 Conversion Unit to figure out exactly what you have.

While I agree that pictures are needed, without a "U" prefix, I suspect the number is not a serial number, but rather a number added post-factory for some purpose.

The sight configuration, slide serrations style and barrel markings will be big clues as to when the Conversion Unit was made.

If you are having issues posting pic's, there is a "Sticky" in the Photos Area Forum with a step by step tutorial on how to do it.

    Raptide,

Yes,---we will need to see pictures to be sure.

However, back in 2000, CDNN imported COLT conversion units (CU) from Argentina. Most likely, Argentine Military (contract) surplus.? There's one in the neighborhood, IIRC refinished, and it does have 9079 marked on the top. (Will try to locate it for pictures??) Argentine Military contract CU numbered 9079 (most likely numbered in Argentina) is a COLT 1954 -1972 conversion unit.

    Best Regards,

P.S. Most likely, the Argentine Military contract CU are documented in that unpublished book?

I added pictures, however I could only add 5 so I didn't show the serrations. There are only serrations on the rear of the slide, and there are 11 of them with square edges.

I think Stan3 is on the right track with your CU.
Your's has the post 1954 angled slide serrrations and the post 1964 stepped Colt-Accro rear sight and the block letter "COLT" slide roll mark. So it's a post 1964 Colt .22 Conversion Unit.

From the look of the pic of the slide stop notch in the slide, that thing has been fired a whole heck of a lot! It’s been
    used hard in my estimation.
