    Bought my first Woodsman

I couple of days ago I started a thread about what to look for when buying a Woodsman. I would have waited and followed your advice and gotten a first series but this one was only 20 minutes from my house. In terms of condition I would call it an excellent shooter. The only real wear is a little bit on the muzzle from a holster. I wont get a chance to shoot it for a while but it feels great in my hand and it looks like a very well made piece, all for the princely sum of $430.

You got a good deal on a nice woodsman. The 4 inch is my favorite of them. I have owned all versions and still keep going back to the shorter barrels.
I have a 4 inch 3rd model Match target I like also. Enjoy it.

I like the short barrel. I've never held a longer one but I like my short one. I do wish it had the vertical cocking serrations though.

    2nd Series Woodsman grip adapters

The 2nd Series Woodsman's are my favourites.
If you got the large and small grip adapter with the pistol, give them a try. I personally like the large grip adapter. They feel great in the hand.
If you didn't get them, they are available on the auction sites and attach to the mainspring housing with the screw that hopefully is still there.

    Chawk,

I think the best thing about the 2nd gens by far.. is their magazine release button and its handy location. Why it was taken away in their 3rd gens is still head scratrcher!
Very, very nice pistol with superb fit & finish. I'm sure the trigger is awesome as well! I'm thinking you'll have at least a few more very shortly......

Not a big deal yet feel a correction is in order.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Series Colt Woodsman Sport models have a 4 1/2" barrel as well as the short barreled Challenger and Huntsman models.
