    Some more pics...

First here are some comparison pics between it and an older Series 70 reproduction. Note that I have an arched housing on the 1911 Classic now.

Note the huge difference in the finish. While both are blued the dull finish of the 1911 Classic almost makes it look like a WW1-era Black Army M1911.

Now a comparison of the finish and rollmarks between the 1911 Classic and a 1966-vintage Government Model:

Note that they came very close to the original markings. Not identical, but a good job in my opinion. Note however that they are applied further forward on the slide. Note also the difference in the location of the disassembly notch:

Very nice... while the dull finish is different than the Series 70, it's still very nice.

I may have to get one of these myself, and replace the MSH just like you did.

Great write up thanks- very nice retro looking pistol! Only thing I would change is the grips- resin ivory S, or sambar stag, camel or buff bone etc.

And maybe sights- the better to see them with.

I'm really liking this new Gov't Model! I do prefer short trigger, arched MSH as well. I wish they would polish the flats a bit more like the classics shown above.

Just a quick update, a fellow on another forum just bought one about 1000 numbers higher than mine, and the rollmarks look similar but are actually roll-stamped and not engraved. Apparently the laser engraving was just temporary while they had actual rollmark dies made up.

BTW here are the rollmarks on the latest batch. Stamped, not engraved:
