How many of Colt's 1911s, manfactured during WWI, likely went to Europe?

    Hi folks,
Anyone have an idea of how many of the 1911s, produced by Colt during WWI, actually went to Europe? I'd guess it was most of them, at least until nearer the end of 1918. What does the hive say?

According to the information Charles Clawson recorded from Colt records, most of the production from approximately serial number 300000 in June of 1918 were shipped directly to France. Prior to this most were shipped to Springfield Armory before being shipped to the military units.

Probably somewhere in the National Archives is the record of others being sent to military bases from Springfield Armory to equip the men going to France.

General Pershing wanted as many combat troops armed with pistols as possible, so it's likely the majority of production of Colt and other 1911's were sent to France where they were needed.
