    A 1960 Springfield Armory NM built on an early 1944 Colt receiver with Colt NM barrel numbered to receiver. Last year for black plastic trigger, and transitioned to adjustable rear sight the next year.

    Somehow escaped subsequent rebuild.

    Research indicates that up to the time RIA took over for the last year 1968, SA actually sold only 3681 pistols through 1967. That's from the time the program started. All the unsold pistols were recycled back into the next years program. That makes the ones out pretty rare.
    The reason I carry a .45 is, Colt Don't make a .46
