Hi guys. Life-long collector and retired Army. New poster here. Picked this up yesterday at a favorite shop near Richmond before it came out of the back to the floor. Couldn't pass at $750 plus tax. Sadly, the magazine is a modern replacement. I've been shifting to pistols lately as I try to take up less space.
SN MT15052. Bluing is nice with some wear and discoloration in spots. Top, sights, and rear of slide are matte finish. Colt roll stamp on slide is shallow, but matches another example they had in the 16k range (front sight had been replaced and new pins drilled poorly to hold the blade, but finish was even better than this one) and also another on a closed Littlejohn's auction. Comments welcome, further education appreciated. I know the basics and read all the other threads here on the type.
Now I need to find the correct magazine at an equally good price! What should I look for? The 2-line woodsman would be correct?

What a deal! You have some money left for the mag cuz I'm guessing correct and good price may be mutually exclusive conceptions.

It should be a three line magazine like this one.

Very nice, and yes you got a huge deal...! You oughta get it lettered. The one I had lettered to the Navy at Sewells Point, Virginia.
Nice pistol, Brad. Congrats.
The mag may take some time and a C-note or two to find, but it should be worth it. You have some room to complete your rig.
The last Match Target Series II which I sold last year on Gunbroker went for nearly $1,300. Don't know why I sold it. It was delightfully clean.
Martin; thanks! I've noticed most of your acquisitions stand out.
