    Colt 1911 Serial # 3

I have no connection with this auction or auction house other than I have been to some of their live auctions as they are fairly close to me.

I will say that they are primarily antique dealers and don't really specialize in guns.

    https://www.auction78.com/?az_feed_p...0%26nojava%3D0

They are setting the opening bid @ $40,000.

    Best,
    Charles

Scott Gahimer did the evaluation on that gun for the family selling it.

At least they used Scott's images, their early images were awful. I encourage folks to download and read Scott's assessment of this uber-early M1911.

I understand the live auction was today. I heard through the grapevine that it sold for $130,000, but I couldn't find confirmation of it on the auction site.

$141,600 with buyers premium. Not a bad day at the office.

They advertised "there is a 13% buyers premium", so maybe as much as 146,900.00? (What's Shipping,...or will the buyer fly-in and drive it home.)

    serial number three

Stan, they only charge a 10% buyer's premium when paying with a bank wire transfer, total was $131,200.00. First class people to deal with too.

Side question. How do you insure something like that if it has to travel distance from one FFL to another FFL? And how much would the insurance charge be?
