Question Colt 1911 shanghai/norwegian naval service

Hi, this is described as a Colt 1911 Shanghai, also Norwegian Naval Service. Here's the link … https://simpsonltd.com/colt-1911-sha...ervice-z41874/ First it's a commercial model so why didn't the Norwegians use a Kongsberg 1914? It is also stamped "CONSESSION FRANCAISE CHANGHAI" in French and over stamped "with an upside down "P.T.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT". I'm no expert but it doesn't look right to me. Any comment's regards, Mike

I believe that was covered in C&Rsenel's YouTube review of the 1911 - I'll see if I can find the link.

The French Concession 1911A1s are scarce but still seem to be easier to find than the French Concession 1908 pistols, which had the "Concession Francaise Changhai" markings also marked out. I have seen at least three of four of the 1911A1s that went to the Norwegian Navy for sale in the last couple of years. I got mine for what I thought was an outrageous price but have since seen them selling for double that.

Besides the barrel not being correct, the pistol is fine. I looked at it recently.

Hi Scott, when you say not correct, do you have any theories? Thanks, Mike

Do I have what? And theories? I don't understand what you are asking. The barrel is not a Colt barrel. Other than that, the pistol was fine...correct.

Apologies for my ignorance - what tipped you off to the barrel?

It is not a Colt barrel. I disassembled the pistol and looked at the barrel.
